Patricia Quist Obituary

Patricia ‘Kitty Grandma’ Quist was born in Mishawaka, Indiana on December 20, 1938 to Harold and Edna Brown. Patricia passed away on September 3, 2025 at her daughter’s home in Elkhart, Indiana after an extended battle with dementia.

Patricia is survived by a daughter, Kathy Quist Hensley and sister, Carol Horner. Three grandchildren, Tracy M. Jones, Kimberly R. Hernandez and Brandon S. Quist, four great grand children Zachary Hensley, Madeline Rucker, Brooklyn Rucker and Isabella Jones. Three great great grandchildren Tony, Odesza and Leonardo.

She was preceded in death by her husband Henry A. Quist and her son Steven W. Quist.

She was fondly known by all her grandkids as ‘Kitty Grandma’ because cats frequently showed up at her home and she fed and sheltered them. They stayed and multiplied and she loved all the kitties.

She retired from Harley Holben Elementary School where she was employed as head cook. She prided herself on making delicious recipes that the children would enjoy like homemade pizza, dinner rolls and pizza burgers. Her lunches were legendary.

She was one of a kind and she will be missed. Until we see you again, Rest in Peace Mom.

Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with her care.
