The world lost an extraordinary husband, father, papaw, and friend when Patrick Lee Bybee passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, at St. Joseph Health System, surrounded by his loving family. His passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Pat was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Emma Bybee; his sister, Jacqueline; and his daughter, Brandy. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 32 years, Deborah "Weezy" Bybee; his sisters, Sharon (Jim) and Karen (Hobby); his son, Adam; his stepchildren, Michael (Kim) and Stacy (Shawn); as well as 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren who will carry forward his legacy of love and laughter.
Born on November 20, 1948, in Mishawaka, Indiana, Pat was the youngest of four children and the only son of Lee and Emma. He graduated from Mishawaka High School before proudly serving his country in the United States Navy for five years. Following his military service, Pat worked at Uniroyal for 25 years while also co-owning The Frosted Mug, where he created a welcoming place filled with stories, laughter, and lasting memories. Before retiring, he served as manager of Shadypoint Campground, where he continued to touch lives and build meaningful connections with all who visited.
Pat married the love of his life, Deborah, in 1994, and together they built a life full of joy, laughter, and cherished memories. He was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and dependability, but most of all for his kind, generous heart. He was silly and funny and enjoyed making everyone smile and laugh. He loved "oldies" music, dancing along to it, and especially treasured dancing with his wife, Weezy.
.
Pat found his greatest happiness outdoors, enjoying hobbies such as tinkering and fixing things, hunting, fishing-especially with Weezy and friends-and gardening, where his "green thumb" brought beauty to everything he touched. He also loved collecting antiques, coins, and many treasures, solving crossword puzzles, watching scary movies, and reading a good Stephen King novel. Pat had a deep love for all animals, especially his beloved dogs, Muffin and Molly, and his cat, Fluffy.
.
Honoring his wishes, Pat will be cremated, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all family and friends for their love, support, and compassion during this difficult time.
Elkhart Cremation has been entrusted with his care.
