It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Peggy Ellen Tripp Mirabelle on January 12, 2025. A beloved mother, sister, wife, and friend, Peggy’s life was filled with music, love, and unwavering compassion for people and animals in need.
Peggy was born on November 20, 1950, to Robert and Nedra Tripp in Elkhart, Indiana. Her father, Robert, was a high school band director, composer, and trumpet player, whose musical legacy influenced Peggy’s own love for music. She was raised in Elkhart alongside her sisters Patti and Pammy, attending Elkhart High School and becoming a gifted singer and guitarist. Peggy performed in a folk band that brought joy to many while touring regionally.
In 1968, Peggy met her future husband, Alan, while he was attending Notre Dame and enlisted in the Army. The two shared a deep love for music, which they passed on to their son, Robert, born in 1970. Though Robert never met his grandfather, he inherited the family’s musical talent, inspired by his parents. Today, Robert is a music composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist by night and a medical software engineer by day. Robert was raised in Florida, where he still resides.
Peggy worked as a bookkeeper at the Palm Beach law firm Alley, Maas, Rogers, Lindsey & Chauncey, where she was loved and respected for her professionalism, intelligence, kindness, and warmth. She was also a passionate advocate for animal rights, dedicating her time and energy to causes that promoted the well-being of animals. This included adopting a vegan diet, which she credited with extending her life by years.
Peggy is survived by her son, Robert, and her older sister, Patti. Peggy was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Nedra Tripp, her husband Alan, and her sister Pammy.
In lieu of flowers, friends and family are invited to reach out to her son Robert (rmirabelle@gmail.com) to share memories and stories of Peggy.
Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with her care.
Peggy will be deeply missed, but her spirit lives on through her son, her music, and the many lives she touched with her sharp wit, deep spiritual and emotional wisdom and compassion for all living things.
