Penelope “Penny” Lynn Paul-Banter, 61, of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Elkhart General Hospital, with her children by her side. She was born on June 28, 1963. Penny was the child of Mardel Kay Banter and Donald Frank Banter. Penny leaves behind surviving siblings: Greg Banter of Florida; Jeff (Glenda) Banter of Georgia; and Kelly Banter of Indiana. Penny was preceded in death by her father, Donald Banter, in 2017.
Penny is survived by her children: Amber (Robert) Faltynksi, Samantha Bellamy, Jennifer (Scott) Goodine, Caitlin (Owen) Arno, Brianna Paul, and JD Paul. Penny is also survived by nine grandchildren: Damian, Shawn, Owen, Sh’kyra, Makinzie, Ayden, Rylen, Quiton, and a new grandchild in April 2025!
Penny spent many years working at Ryan's Steakhouse and Sun Communities. She enjoyed taking care of her pond, gardening with her kids, being an amazing maintenance woman, leading her MDA group, taking field trips, and leading Girl Scouts clubs.
Penny spent many years at Brickyard Healthcare in Elkhart, keeping all of the nurses on their toes! You could always catch her with a Mountain Dew in one hand and a cigarette in the other. She loved watching, through her window, the animals being fed, watching Little House on the Prairie re-runs, and enjoying a burger for her meals! Penny also enjoyed her kids coming to visit her and spending time with her.
Penny will be missed dearly by her friends and family by her hardworking dedication, selfless love, the most contagious laughter, and her warm hugs. You could enter Penny’s room and your face would light up by her infectious smile with her big blue eyes!
In keeping with Penny’s wishes, she will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date by the family. Donations in Penny’s name may be directed to American Cancer Society (https://donate.cancer.org/).
