Rebecca Stewart Obituary

Rebecca Stewart died peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, on July 22, 2025 in Mishawaka, IN. Born Rebecca Lynn Dougall in 1951, Becky lived a beautiful, full life. She was fiercely driven - putting herself through college and eventually earning her master’s degree from IUSB. Becky was a dedicated elementary teacher, known for her extraordinary patience and deep commitment to helping her students learn. She was always finding creative ways to make lessons come alive.

Words can not capture the lifetime of love she shared with her husband, Marvin. Married for over 53 years, they were true adventurers at heart - chasing sunsets on Lake Michigan, riding motorcycles, and camping together along the Pine River. Their travels took them from St. Thomas to Hawaii, Mexico to Aruba, Florida to California, and to countless cities and towns in between.

Becky’s passion for teaching and her curiosity for the world was imparted to her children. She created a home filled with experiential learning, joy in the outdoors, and an adventurous spirit that shaped the lives of her son, Paul David Stewart, and daughter, Kathryn Diane Allen (née Stewart). She passed on her love for animals - caring for everything from raccoons to parakeets to the many dogs that remain an important part of the family today.

The bond Becky shared with her siblings Chuck and Scott was full of laughter, loyalty, and love - a connection that shaped her deeply. That same warmth and closeness lives on in the unbreakable bond between her children, a testament to the way she nurtured love within her family. That care and nurturing spirit extended outward to a wide network of friends. Her family is forever grateful to the many friends who loved and supported her.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Sr. and Agnes Dougall, and her brothers, Charles Dougall Jr. and Scott Dougall. She is survived by her devoted husband, Marvin Stewart; her children, Paul (Ariel) Stewart and Kathy (Travis) Allen.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Osceola United Methodist Church, 431 N Beech Rd, Osceola, IN. The family invites all to join them for a luncheon afterward and kindly asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the nonprofit Center for Hospice Care in Mishawaka, whose compassionate care meant so much during Becky’s final days.
