On a snowy, quiet evening, Bob passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved and adored him.
Bob, warmly known by his community as Mr. Bob had an infectious smile and a quiet, bouncy kind of laugh. He was often seen walking around his neighborhood, returning trash and recycling receptacles or delivering his famous meatloaf to the front doorstep of a home. He began and ended his walks at the side porch of his favorite neighbor’s house for a butterscotch disc and a brief “porch sit.” While out walking, Bob would greet friends and strangers the same–with a thumbs up and a “How ya doin?!” especially when he encountered his favorite little neighbor girls.
Bob loved his family deeply and delighted in what delighted them. He also built an extended family of friends, making him lovingly referred to as Grandpa Bob and Bobbles. Bob was a man of faith, and he enjoyed the company of his church communities. He was an avid bowler, a fan of Marco’s pizza, the inventor of fist bumps, the keeper of memories, a reader of large-print Westerns, and a lover of all things Christmas.
Bob met the love of his life, Shelia, in a flower shop. They spent their lives working together, making the world more beautiful—one flower bouquet at a time. Bob never stopped creating and sharing his gift of floral arrangement with the world, even after Shelia passed away.
Bob was intentional and kind and lived his life in service to his family, his community, and his country, with integrity and dedication. His generosity was endless.
If Mr. Bob was reading this, I am certain that he would say, “Calm down, Kid.” Well, Mr. Bob, you need to know how loved you were and are. You have changed us for the better, and we are forever grateful for your life. Thank you for loving us so well. We will miss you terribly.
Private services will be held, per Bob’s request.
Bob’s desire is that memorial contributions be made to For the Good, SB online at http://forthegoodsb.com/donate to continue his weekly donation of milk for the neighborhood food pantry.
Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with his care.
