Robert Anthony Grontkowski

Robert “Bob” Anthony Grontkowski, a lifelong resident of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on September 1, 2025, in South Bend at the age of 77. 

Born on February 4, 1948, in South Bend, Bob was the son of Edward Eugene Grontkowski Sr. and Elizabeth Jane (Fortier) Grontkowski. He grew up in a close-knit family and remained deeply connected to his hometown throughout his life. 

Bob is lovingly remembered by his son, Trebor (Emily) Grontkowski, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.  

He is also survived by his siblings: James Arthur (Michael Hanley) Grontkowski (Bob and I shared the same birthday 2 years apart), Jerome Patrick (Carol) Grontkowski, and Nancy Marie Cole (Grontkowski).  

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Edward Eugene Grontkowski, Jr., and his son, Michael Anthony Wilson (Grontkowski). 

A private burial and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.  

The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Milton Home and the former Portage Manor who took exceptional care of Bob, especially in his last days. Memorial contributions can be sent to Milton Home.  

Bob’s memory is cherished by all who knew him.
