Ronald L. Mudica

Ronald Lee “Ronnie” Mudica, 67, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on April 19, 2026. He was born on September 16, 1958.

  Ronnie was a devoted brother to David Chastain, Darlena Chastain, and Rosie Mudica, and was preceded in death by his brother, Donnie Mudica.

  He was a proud father to Lynn, Ronnie, Tony, and Amanda, and a grandfather to Taylor, Ronnie III, Matthew, Joshua, Ryan, Rylee, Summer, Anthony, and Maddison. And great-grandfather to Koryn James. 

  He also shared a close bond with many cousins who were raised more like brothers and sisters.

  Ronnie served his country for 21 years in the United States Army as a mechanic. After his military service, he spent many years working on cars, something he truly enjoyed. Later in life, he found what he considered his dream job working as a custodian at the University of Notre Dame.

  He was a lifelong fan of Notre Dame football and the Chicago Cubs. Ronnie enjoyed the simple things in life—good music, especially Bruce Springsteen, along with his beer and cigarettes. Most of all, he will be remembered for being himself, unapologetically and fully.

  Ronnie will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him.

  Per his wishes cremation will take place and there will be no services.
