It is with deep sorrow for our family to share that Roberta “Bert” J. Ellis passed away on May 29, 2023 with her two daughters lovingly by her side. She was 94 years old.

She was born to George and Mabel (Kibble) Ward on July 24, 1928 in Elkhart, IN. After graduating from Elkhart High School in 1946, Bert married Dr. Eugene Ellis on July 11, 1948.

Roberta is survived by her daughters, Linda (Ken) Busch of Carmel, IN and Laura Miller of Elkhart, IN; three grandchildren, Joseph (Rebecca) Miller of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Natalie (Chance) Ernst of Fishers, IN and Kimberly (Bryan) Wallace of Elkhart, IN; and 7 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Bert is preceded in death by her six siblings, Marian, Elizabeth, George, Nellie, Patricia, and her twin brother, Robert.

Bert was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a wonderful homemaker and caretaker, always providing warmth and comfort to her family. She worked at the old Robertson’s then Elder-Beerman stores, from 1972-2006, in the lingerie department where she lovingly earned the nickname, “The Bra Lady”.

Bert was an avid golfer, enjoyed cheering on the Hoosiers and was a loyal supporter of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was rarely seen without a smile, she favored the color red and loved talking to friends, neighbors and family. She had a a witty sense of humor and a unique way of making others feel special. Bert often shared fond memories of her childhood growing up in the country and of her happy upbringing with her parents and siblings.
