Ronald Ivan Newton

Ronald Ivan Newton, age 87, took his last breath and leaped into Jesus’ arms surrounded by his beloved Son, daughter in law and grandchildren on Saturday November 22nd at 11:05 a.m. Ron married the love of his life Charlene on September 21st, 1958. She was, along with his sons and grand babies the joys of his life.

Ron was born on February 1st, 1938, in Vienna, IL to Elmer & Marie Newton. After graduating from Vienna High School, Ron joined brothers Cliff & Harry in moving to Elkhart, IN for work. Ron became a Master Plumber, working for a few companies until going into business for himself with Ron Newton Plumbing & Heating until his retirement. At retirement, he said he and his Wife would travel and he would play as much golf as possible….That is exactly what they did.

Over the years Ron played highly competitive Fast pitch Softball until his 50’s. He also Coached in the Concord Little Leagues, was in numerous Bowling leagues, and was a friend,  inspiration, and help to so many. Also, a very regular attender of Concord Football & Basketball games. Ron attended Sugar Grove Church until his death.

Surviving is his Son Greg Newton (Kristie) of Elkhart, IN, grandchildren Alicia Elick (Denny) of Fort Wayne, IN, Alexis Reprogle (Mike) of Fort Wayne, IN, Isaiah Newton (Bailee) of Fort Wayne, IN, and Liz Newton of Elkhart, IN. Also, his great grandchildren Luca, Anthony, Lily, Gianna, Emmerson, & Jade. Siblings Jeannie Larrison of Mt Vernon, IL, Susie Summers of Goreville, IL, Gayla Warren of Mt Vernon, IL, and Tom Newton (Diana) of Mt Vernon, IL.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Charlene, his son Rick, and siblings Anita Wright, Cliff Newton, Harry Newton, Sharon Thomas, David Newton, and Joy Caplinger.

Friends are encouraged to attend the Celebration of Life for Ron on Monday December 8th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Sugar Grove Church 58512 Old County Road 17 Goshen, IN 46528.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made to Sugar Grove Church.
