Rose Hopkins Obituary

Rose Marie Hopkins peacefully passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior December 29, 2020. Rose was born in Mishawaka, IN to Albert and Madeline (Hembrecht) Springer on November 25, 1943.
Rose graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1962 and was married in 1964 taking the last name of her husband to become Rose Hopkins. Rose was many things to her family and the people who had been blessed to know her over her 77 years. Rose was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, caregiver, companion and fighter. Although small in stature she was an immensely strong woman. She suffered from heart problems that plagued her for nearly 50 years. Beginning at the age of 28, with her first open heart surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, she was told she would not survive for very long. This prognosis was repeated, again and again, over the course of her life and on each occasion (to the amazement of her multitude of doctors) she willed herself to continue. She turned months into years and years into decades. Rose's love for her family and friends was fierce and uncompromising.
Rose was preceded in death by parents and a nephew, Steven Johnson.
She is survived by her devoted companion of 32 years, Harry Weaver, sister, Nancy Troutfetter, children, Kimberlee (Ron) Navarro, Shane (Jess) Hopkins, nephew, Scott (Susan) Johnson, niece, Stacy (Tim) Stephens. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Danielle Rose (Josh Foster) Banes, John Banes, Daniel Hopkins, Amanda Hopkins, Reagan Hopkins, Colton Hopkins and Cooper Hopkins, and 3 great-grandchildren, Brody Manis, Mickey Foster and Melanie Rose Foster.
A celebration of life will be held at a date yet to be determined.
