Sandra K Haberstich

Sandra K. Haberstich, age 80 passed away in Elkhart General Hospital on Friday May 17th, 2024. She was born to Laura E. Yoder (Barhydt) and Harvey D Yoder both deceased. The oldest of 5 children, she was preceded in death by her brothers: George Yoder and Cecil Yoder, and her husband Gene Haberstich. She is survived by two brothers—Daniel Yoder and Fred Yoder; three children—Anthony D. Hunsberger (husband to Michelle Hunsberger), Brian K. Hunsberger (husband to Amy McLaughlin) and Colette G. Ellinghouse (wife to Bec Ellinghouse); and four grandchildren—Eric Ellinghouse, Katie Hunsberger, Alex Hunsberger, and Gage Ellinghouse; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She did her nurses training at Indiana State. Over the years she was a neonatal nurse, home health nurse, den mother (cub scouts), physical therapist, activity director and after a car wreck that left her seriously injured, she assisted her husband in his business for many years. After her husband’s death she worked for Real Services, Catholic Charities, and Meals on Wheels.  She was a member of Saint James Episcopal Church.  

Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with her care.
