Sharon Lynne Schafer

ELKHART – Sharon Lynne Schafer of Elkhart, Indiana, passed away on April 20, 2022 in hospice care at the Ernestine M. Raclin House, Mishawaka, IN.

She was born in September of 1946 in Peoria, Illinois, to Wallace H. and Lois E. Wrigley. She attended Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois, where she earned a BS Degree in Biology and met her future husband, William M. Schafer. They were married in 1968 and spent 53 wonderful years together. He survives. Also surviving are a sister (Carole Christman), a brother (Steven Wrigley), two nieces, and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister-in-law, and a nephew.

Her team activity with her husband over the past 40 years was mentoring teenagers. She was also active in the American Association of University Women and the League of Women Voters. She was a dedicated member of her church, Hillcrest United Methodist Church, Elkhart, IN, where a Celebration of Life service was held on April 29, 2022.

Elkhart Cremation Services was entrusted with her care and burial of ashes will take place at Swan Lake Memory Gardens, Peoria, Illinois, at a future time. Memorial contributions may be made to Hillcrest United Methodist Church, 4206 East Bristol Street, Elkhart, IN 46514.
