Sheila Danzy Obituary

CASSOPOLIS, MI-Sheila Beth Danzy, 65, of Cassopolis, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on Monday, April 13, 2026.

Sheila was born on April 19, 1960, in Three Rivers, Michigan, the daughter of Kenneth and Mary (Young) Cassel. On September 23, 1987, she married the love of her life, Craig Arnold Danzy.

Sheila was a woman who devoted her life to Christ.  Truly a light to her family, friends, and even strangers.

She carried a rare gift for making people feel seen, special, and deeply loved. She was a natural nurturer, both in her professional life and in the way she cared for everyone around her.

Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved camping with her husband, singing like Patsy Cline, and dancing freely “like a butterfly.” Music filled her soul. She found beauty in the changing seasons, with Christmas being her favorite—she cherished decorating and bringing that magic to life each year.

You could often find her with a warm cup of coffee, enjoying sunflowers and watching hummingbirds.

Sheila’s life was devoted to caring for others. She began her journey as a neighborhood daycare owner, later becoming known to many in Cassopolis as the beloved “Donut Lady” at Meyers, where she brightened countless mornings. She then followed her calling as a CNA, dedicating many years to caring for residents at West Woods Nursing Facility, a place she truly loved. Her final and most cherished role was as a School Nurse Aide at Sam Adams Elementary School, where she found deep purpose in caring for each child who came through her door.

Sheila is survived by her devoted husband, Craig Danzy; her sisters, Donene (Arthur) Turner and Linda (Tom) Burkett; and her children, Shannon Price of Granger, IN; Ricky (Nichole) Drews of Vandalia, MI; Niccole (Carly) Nichols of Indianapolis, IN; Renard MacNeal of Kalamazoo, MI; Janae Danzy of Cassopolis, MI; and Kara Danzy (fiancé Dean) of Hammond, IN.

She also leaves behind 13 cherished grandchildren: Dylan, RJ, Dalton, Will, Dakotah, Amarionah, Arrian, Noella, Ava, Oliver, Elijah, Malachi, and Yandel, along with a large extended family of in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins who she loved deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Mary (Young) Cassel; her sister, Mary Lou Powell; her son-in-law, Matt Price; her father-in-law, Alvernon Danzy; and her bonus father, Leonard.
