ELKHART- Shirley A. Smoker, 86, passed away August 27, 2025, at Woodland Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was bornOctober 5, 1938, in Sturgis, MI to Floyd & Lucille (Kibiloski) Smoker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Robert E. Smoker and Richard A. Smoker.
Surviving are her 2 sister-in-laws along with 6 nieces and nephews.
Shirley grew up in Bronson, Michigan and graduated from Bronson High School in 1956. She went on to work at many places throughout her life such as; C.G. Conn Inc., Dexter Axel, G & S Machine & Tool, and the South Bend Tribune. She was a former member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and a current member of St. Mary’s the Annunciation Catholic Church. She remained strong in her faith during her life and very involved in the churches by teaching CCD classes, church outreach, and many other volunteering opportunities. Shirley was an avid Notre Dame and Chicago Cubs fan. She was always there for her family, going to South Bend White Sox and Silver Hawks games with them, attending the many sporting and band events, and just being a wonderful support person to others. Her curiosity, kindness, and great sense of humor will be cherished by her family and friends.
Per her wishes cremation will take place and there will be services at a later time.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Mary’s the Annunciation Catholic Church or Angels of ADEC, P.O. Box 398 Bristol, IN 46507.
