Thomas W. Hoogenboom
February 26, 1952 – February 12, 2026
Thomas W. (Tom) Hoogenboom, 73, passed away peacefully February 12 at Greencroft Healthcare. He was born in Goshen, Indiana on February 26, 1952 to Hubert and Pauline (Mitterling) Hoogenboom. On June 9, 2000, Tom married the love of his life, Lois Ann Schuh. Along with his parents, she preceded him in death on December 25, 2019.
Tom is survived by stepson Trevor Schuh. In addition, he is survived by sisters Dianne (Richard) Cons of Tempe, Arizona, Marcia (Ross) Kehr of Goshen and brother Doug (Tracie) Hoogenboom of Goshen.
Tom spent nearly all of his life in the Goshen/Elkhart area, graduating from Goshen High School in 1971. He worked at Western Rubber, Kropf Manufacturing, and Indiana Wood Products from where he retired.
Tom enjoyed watching sporting events on TV, old westerns, and listening to music, particularly old rock and roll. He especially loved the Beatles, Beach Boys and Lovin’ Spoonful, and could answer nearly any trivia question regarding music and musical groups, and at one time had an album collection that numbered in the hundreds.
Tom loved participating in organized social activities and games with his friends, first at Evergreen Place assisted living where he resided since 2020, and then at Greencroft Healthcare where he transitioned to last February as his health deteriorated. When he was able, Tom loved attending his church, Elkhart East Christian Church. Special thanks to Pastor Thomas Short and the Evergreen and Greencroft Healthcare (Dell) staff for their support and loving care of Tom.
Per Tom’s wishes, a private family service for the interment of his ashes will be held at West Goshen Cemetery at a later date.
Elkhart Cremation Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
