We come together today to celebrate the life of Tireno John Gregory Washington, known to us all as “Reno.” Though his time with us was far too short, at the age of 39, Reno’s impact on our lives was profound, and his memory will continue to live on through his family, friends, and the many lives he touched.
Reno was born on September 26, 1985 in Chicago, Illinois, to Lydia Martin and Gregory Washington. From a young age, Reno showed a remarkable selflessness and love for his family. He was the kind of person who would drop everything to help someone in need, no questions asked. His devotion to his family was unwavering, and he especially cherished his role as a father.
His daughter, Tiliyah, was his pride and joy. Reno’s love for her was limitless, and he always made sure that she knew how deeply she was loved. His bond with Tiliyah was the most important part of his life, and his love and devotion to her will be a part of her forever.
In addition to being a devoted father, Reno had a deep passion for his work and his community. He started his own business, Reno Home Remodel, in 2023, where he poured his heart into remodeling homes. He also had a passion for writing and had written several books and movies that he wanted to publish someday.
Reno enjoyed spending time with his family and friends when he wasn’t working. He loved spending time with his daughter, Tiliyah, more than anything in this world. He was a sports fan who enjoyed watching basketball and football. He enjoyed Notre Dame home games when he had the chance to go.
Reno is survived by his mother, Lydia Martin; his siblings, Angelo, Navarro, Elisa, Steven, Shenice and Caprice; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him deeply. Reno was preceded in death by his father, Gregory Washington; his brother, Marcel; and his nephew, Theo Bean.
Though we mourn his loss, we find comfort in knowing that Reno’s legacy of love, kindness, and selflessness will continue to inspire us. We will remember him for his generous heart, his passion for life, and his dedication to his family.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Impact Ministries, 121 E. Tutt Street, South Bend, IN. Pastor Michael Bush will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00-3:00pm on Saturday at the church, prior to the service.
