ELKHART-William “Bill” Lewis, 80, currently lived in Elkhart, Indiana passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Elkhart General Hospital. He was born October 12, 1941, in Flint, MI to Roy & Helena (Relitz) Lewis, Sr.
Bill was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran, while serving in the Navy he met Mary Laferriere who was also serving. On July 25, 1962, he married Mary and together they celebrated almost 60 years of marriage.
Surviving is wife Mary Lewis, 4 children Rick (Karen) Lewis, Shelly (Darren) Francisco, Sherry Dyer, Kim (Martin) Stahl and 6 grandchildren, Kyle (Rhiannon) Lewis, Kristen Lewis, Danielle Stephens, Tyler (Alyssa) Dyer, Shelby (Christian) Dyer and Charity Blanton and numerous great-grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 siblings, Roy Lewis, Jr. and Shirley Oberman.
Bill worked at General Motors in Flint Michigan. He had various jobs at Buick starting out as an hourly employee and worked into a salary supervisor job then into a purchasing position where he ended up retiring from in 1992. Bill loved his family and his grandkids dearly and they will all truly miss him.
Per his wishes cremation will take place and there will be no services.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Elkhart County Humane Society.
